The Role
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Transport Planner or Senior Transport Planner to join our forward-thinking team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality transport planning advice to support development proposals at all stages—from feasibility through to planning and delivery. Key Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and other technical reports.
Conduct site appraisals, access feasibility studies, and support masterplanning work for new developments.
Manage and interpret traffic and transport data, including junction modelling using software such as Junctions 10 (ARCADY/PICADY), LINSIG, and TRICS.
Liaise with clients, local authorities, architects, planning consultants and other stakeholders.
Contribute to project management, budget control, and programme delivery.
Support junior staff and collaborate with colleagues across disciplines.
Engage in business development, including preparing fee proposals and attending client meetings.
About You
We’re looking for someone who’s not only technically competent but also enthusiastic, commercially aware, and eager to contribute to a dynamic team.
Essential Requirements:
A degree in Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
Relevant experience in transport planning within a consultancy or public sector environment.
Strong understanding of UK planning and development processes.
Proficient in industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions 10, LINSIG, and GIS.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Confident in client-facing roles and stakeholder engagement.
Desirable:
Working towards (or Chartered with) CIHT, ICE, TPS professional qualifications.
Experience in mentoring or line management (for Senior role).
Exposure to active travel, sustainable transport, or smart mobility concepts.
